Game specific Tournament Rules – version 0.6 – as of 5.8.2026
In addition to the General Tournament Rules, the following rules apply specifically to the tournament games.
Recent edits are highlighted in blue.
Tip: Reread the rules after playing the game a few times — you’ll likely discover that you’ve overlooked some details.
Time per Game
Games are played in the following order.
The mandatory maximum playing times for each game — which include setup and scoring — are as follows:
| Endeavor: Deep Sea | 120 min. |
| Kavango | 80 min. |
| Rebirth | 60 min. |
| Wispwood | 60 min. |
Endeavor: Deep Sea
Ruling for „Setup – ① – Scenario Sheet.“: Each table is assigned one scenario from scenarios 2 to 6 (still subject to change).
Addition to „Setup“: Before each game, all players at the table will review the scenario’s special rules together.
Since we use multiple missions, each with its own special rules, this joint review ensures that all players are aware of the specific rules for the mission being played.
Clarification for Scenario Sheet „Mission 6: Star Search“: Each new Impact Marker must always start at an entry point for this scenario.
Clarification for „PHASE 2: ACTIVATION“: When you activate a Specialist, you lock in the actions shown on that Specialist at the moment of activation. You may perform all of these actions this turn, even if the Specialist is promoted during the turn. In this case the actions on the promoted side of the Specialist are not available this turn.
Clarification for „SONAR – STEP 2: PLACE THE NEW ZONE“: New depth-1 zones must always be placed adjacent to an already existing depth-1 zone.
Kavango
In addition to the original rules, the clarifications provided in the appendix (see download below) also apply.
Ruling for “Setup – 1” (Landscape Player Board): At every table, the same assignment of Landscape Player Boards to the four starting positions will be used. This assignment is determined by the organizer at the start of the tournament.
Ruling for “Setup – 7” (Money): Every player starts with zero money cubes ($0m).
Ruling for “Setup – 8” (Goal Cards): Each player takes three goal cards at the start of the game. Score two of them at the end of the game.
Change to “Setup – 9” (Conservation Experts): The game will be played with the Conservation Experts Botanist, Local Leader, Ranger, and Researcher. At every table, the same assignment of Conservation Experts to the four starting positions will be used. This assignment is determined by the organizer at the start of the tournament.
Clarification for “Setup – 10” (Animals in sanctuary): Player 1 makes the first selection. Player 4 selects their second animal first.
Change to “Dealing the Hands”: In rounds 1, 2, and 3, the player seated in positions 1, 2, and 3 respectively receives Hand 1. The remaining hands (Hands 2–4) are then distributed clockwise to the other players.
Change to “Gameplay – Simultaneous Turns”: Stages 2 (Play that card) and 3 (Complete research and invest money) of each turn are carried out by the players in sequence, starting with the player holding Hand 1.
Clarification for „2. Play a card“: Your nature reserve has unlimited spaces.
Ruling for “Passing the hands of cards”: In Round 2, hands must be passed to the right (counterclockwise).
Change to “Climate Protection“: You may not invest more than $3m (per player) in the ′3+′ area.
In practice, this means that to earn the Climate Award – and earn 10 points – you must
- Invest $8m total in climate protection by the end of the game.
- Invest at least $5m in total in sections ′1,2,3′ combined.
Rebirth
Ruling for “Map Selection”: The game is played on the Ireland Map.
Clarification on „Round Tower Bonuses – Doubling Markers“: If you complete a Public Mission in the same turn in which you place a tile into a space adjacent to the second Doubling Round Tower tile, you may not place your doubling marker on that Public Mission card.
Change to „Final Scoring“: Ties are broken in favor of the player who controls Blarney Castle.
If none of the tied players control Blarney Castle, the tie is instead resolved among the tied players by checking who occupies the most spaces adjacent to the Round Tower at the Hill of Tara.
Clarification on „Public Mission Cards“:
- „Occupy 4 contiguous coastline spaces“:
To complete this mission, a player must occupy 4 coastline spaces that form a single uninterrupted shoreline segment.
Wispwood
Addition to “Basic Turn”:
- The pond space from which you take the wisp during your current turn is marked with a fifth cat.
- You place the shape, including the wisp, in front of you before adding it into your forest in step 3).
These additions are intended to improve clarity and allow partial take‑backs of your ongoing turn.
Addition to “Dealing new wisps”: When dealing new wisps, first place all of them face-down on the 8 spaces around the pond. After all have been placed, turn them face‑up.

Rule Inquiries & Suggestions

Board Game Timer
In order to keep the playing times of the games within normal limits, we are planning to introduce time limits on the playing time per player per game this year wherever necessary.
Please expect that during the tournament for individual games the app Board Game Timer will be used. It will measure the playing time per player for the entire game.

A special thanks to our partner Mads Purup, the developer of the app, who has extended it for us, kept it free of charge and also ported it to Android. Please give him good reviews in the App Store/Google Play if you like the app and recommend it to other players.
The timer app can be used either at all tables for the entire game, or after the referee’s decision for the remaining game time at tables where an overlong game appears.
The use of the timer app is explicitly not aimed at forcing particularly fast play. Accordingly, the time limits will be such that no one should be in danger of hitting a time limit during normal fast play.
Each team is required to bring two mobile devices to the tournament with the app installed, fully charged and in flight mode.
Please install the app on your devices and familiarize yourself with it in case it is used in the tournament.
The App will be started in mode „Count Up“. Time limits will be communicated by the referees.
