Europe Masters 2025 – A Celebration of Strategy, Sportsmanship, and Community

The Europe Masters 2025 tournament was held at SPIEL’25 Essen and welcomed 37 teams from 16 nations, each competing for the prestigious title of European Board Game Champion. The event showcased not only top-tier gameplay but also a spirit of camaraderie and fair competition that made this year’s edition truly memorable.

This year’s championship featured four carefully selected games, each requiring different skills and strategic depth:

7 Empires – PD-Verlag
Botanicus – Hans im Glück
Forest Shuffle + Alpine Expansion – Lookout Games

These titles challenged players across four intense rounds, testing their adaptability and tactical prowess.

We proudly congratulate the top three teams:

🥇 Ludo Ergo Sum (66 VP) – Germany
🥈 Spielkultur Frankfurt Team 3 (64 VP) – Germany
🥉 Steppe Nomads (63 VP) – Finland

Their performance stood out in a field of strong contenders and exemplified the high level of play at Europe Masters.

Special Guests & Highlights

Peter Dörsam from PD-Verlag attended the tournament together with Mac Gerts, designer of 7 Empires. He observed matches, engaged in lively discussions with players, and personally signed copies of his game.
Kosch, author of Mischwald, was unfortunately unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts.
A special Forest Shuffle Challenge was held, where participants predicted the total victory points scored across all Forest Shuffle games—a fun and analytical twist that added excitement to the day.

A Note of Regret

Despite the success of the event, we deeply regret that five registered teams were unable to participate due to access issues at the SPIEL fair. Their absence was felt, and we hope to welcome them back in future editions.
